(21 March 2025, Hong Kong) Prudential Hong Kong Limited (“Prudential”) today announced the expansion of its strategic partnership with Hong Kong Baptist Hospital (“HKBH”) through a new collaboration with HKBH East Kowloon Medical Centre (“EKMC”) that enables eligible customers to benefit from Prudential’s Medical Expenses Direct Billing Service for ophthalmology treatments starting from 31 March, enhancing their healthcare experience. EKMC is the first full-block ambulatory medical centre under HKBH.
Prudential’s partnership with HKBH last year made possible the seamless referral of customer cases from designated clinics to the hospital for follow-up care. Building on this successful collaboration, Prudential is committed to offering customers enhanced quality and convenience in healthcare protection through more efficient resource utilisation. Prudential plans to progressively expand the Medical Expenses Direct Billing Service to cover additional outpatient services at EKMC, fostering a comprehensive, patient-centric healthcare ecosystem.
The “2024 H1 Individual Life Claims Report[1]” by Prudential revealed that as of June 2024, nearly half (42%) of the claims processed through Prudential’s Medical Expenses Direct Billing Service were for day surgeries, highlighting a robust demand for these services.
This partnership with EKMC underscores Prudential's unwavering commitment to expanding its health and protection offerings. Prudential customers will also enjoy the advantage of priority scheduling for medical consultations at EKMC, thereby minimising waiting times.
Candy Au Yeung, Chief Customer Operations and Health Officer, Prudential Hong Kong Limited, said: "Outpatient centres have become an integral part of Hong Kong's healthcare system and a preferred choice for many residents. We are delighted to deepen our partnership with Hong Kong Baptist Hospital to extend Prudential's Medical Expenses Direct Billing Service to even more individuals. With the opening of more specialist outpatient clinics, Prudential is poised to expand its service offerings across a broader spectrum of specialties, meeting the growing demand for quality healthcare. We remain committed to exploring further collaborations with medical partners to optimise the patient-centred healthcare ecosystem.”
Grace Wong, Director of Administration and Planning, Hong Kong Baptist Hospital said: “We are honoured to deepen our collaboration with Prudential by extending the Medical Expenses Direct Billing Service to the HKBH East Kowloon Medical Centre (EKMC). This partnership reflects our commitment to enhancing patient experience and advancing a patient-centric healthcare model. EKMC, our newest day medical facility, will provide comprehensive and high-quality specialist services to the community. In collaboration with Prudential, we aim to deliver a more convenient and efficient healthcare experience, allowing patients to focus on their health without the hassle of complex payment processes. We look forward to continuing this partnership to contribute to the well-being of Hong Kong citizens and shape a better healthcare future.”
