Prudential teams up with seven local hospitals and medical institutions to forge patient-first healthcare network
(29 May 2024, Hong Kong) Prudential Hong Kong Limited (“Prudential”) today announced a new strategic collaboration with seven local hospitals and clinics to establish a patient-centric healthcare ecosystem in Hong Kong. This first-of-its-kind partnership optimises resource utilisation, professional expertise and complementary networks to deliver customers a seamless medical experience with more accessible and better-quality medical protection.
The alliance comprises clinics and hospitals in Hong Kong, which are Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong in partnership with Chiron Medical Group, Hong Kong Baptist Hospital in partnership with Medicare Group, and Union Hospital in partnership with Total HealthCare Specialists Centre and Alliance Medical Centre.
Medical Expenses Direct Billing Service makes it easy for customers to plan medical expenses
Under this partnership, eligible customers who require surgical intervention after seeking treatment at designated clinics will be referred to the collaborating hospitals for follow-up care. The clinics will seek Prudential’s pre-approval for related medical costs and arrange the Medical Expenses Direct Billing Service on behalf of customers. Following the treatment, Prudential will directly settle the pre-approved medical expenses, making it easy for customers to manage their medical finances and alleviate cash-flow concerns.
In addition to one-stop services ranging from pre-operative consultation to inpatient care and more comprehensive support offered by medical partners, Prudential will also set up exclusive counters at partner clinics to provide customers with priority services and assistance.
The seven partner medical institutions have clinics across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, allowing customers to choose different locations for medical services based on their needs. These hospital partners will also have dedicated teams to provide administrative support, while also offering more sophisticated and efficient healthcare services for Prudential customers during treatment.
Arjan Toor, CEO Health, Prudential plc, said: “Transforming our health business is central to our strategy as we recognise that customers are increasingly seeking not just healthcare, but quality affordable healthcare solutions. While customers understand the importance of their well-being, however, a significant portion of healthcare expenses is still paid out of pocket. Our aim is to help close this gap and make a positive difference in the lives of our customers by guiding them towards the right quality care. We are pleased to be working with these world-class hospitals and clinics, providing first-rate healthcare to our customers.”
Driven by a common goal to provide seamless medical experiences for customers, this partnership between Prudential and the collaborating medical institutions will enhance communication among different institutions, minimise administrative delays and streamline the claims process, thereby optimising the medical services and customer experience.
Candy Au Yeung, Chief Customer Operations and Health Officer, Prudential Hong Kong Limited, said: "We are pleased to collaborate with seven top-class medical institutions in Hong Kong to create a comprehensive patient-centric healthcare ecosystem.
